First Twelve Consonants
The first set of constanats belong to the Heart Chakra. These twelve sounds form the 12 Links of Dependent Origination. Our previous exploration of the Vishudda Chakra presented the nature of being as essentially spacious or empty. It is upon or within this empty or spacious nature of being that Dependent Origination occurs, naturally giving rise to the play we call life or cyclic existence.

Exploration and meditation of the 12 Links will provide for a deeper understanding of the Heart Sutra's famous statement, "emptiness is form and form is emptiness". The spaciousness of the 16 Emptinesses (nirvana) requires the Links of Dependent Origination (samsara) for life to exist as we know it. These two Nirvana and Samsara are intertwined as emptiness and form. Just as vowels and consonants are intertwined to create language.
